How We Treat

Nail avulsions & Tenotomies Performed by a Licensed Chiropodist

Our clinic provides two minimally invasive foot procedures performed by regulated chiropodists: nail avulsions for chronic ingrown toenails and tenotomies for toe deformities that cause pain, pressure, or recurrent corns. These treatments are designed for patients who have not improved with conservative care and are seeking long‑term relief delivered in a safe, sterile clinical environment.

Post Op Toe

A nail avulsion is a minor surgical procedure used to treat chronic or recurrent ingrown toenails. The problematic portion of the nail — or the entire nail, when necessary — is removed under local anesthesia.

This procedure is recommended when patients experience:

  • Repeated infections

  • Persistent pain along the nail edge

  • Inflammation that does not respond to routine care

  • Nail curvature that continually grows into the skin

A chemical matrixectomy may be used to prevent regrowth of the offending nail border when appropriate.

Nail Avulsion (Partial or Total)

Tenotomy

A tenotomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to correct toe deformities caused by tight or contracted flexor tendons. By releasing the tendon through a tiny incision, the toe is allowed to straighten, reducing pressure and eliminating painful corns or calluses.

This procedure is commonly recommended for:

  • Hammertoes causing painful corns

  • Recurrent lesions at the tip of the toe

  • Toe deformities that interfere with walking

  • Patients who did not benefit from conservative care such as footwear changes, orthotics, or padding

Tenotomies are quick, require minimal downtime, and often provide immediate relief.
