How We Treat

Foot Taping for Heel Pain Relief (Low‑Dye Taping)

Foot taping—specifically Low‑Dye Taping—is a highly effective short‑term treatment used to reduce heel pain and support the plantar fascia. At our Hamilton and Ancaster foot clinics, this technique is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for conditions such as plantar fasciitis and general arch strain.

Low Dye Taping - Foot Taping

Low‑Dye Taping is a structured taping method designed to:

  • Reduce strain on the plantar fascia

  • Improve foot alignment during walking

  • Provide temporary support to the arch

  • Decrease pain during daily activities

Many patients experience noticeable relief immediately after taping.

How Foot Taping Helps

This taping technique works by limiting excessive foot motion and redistributing pressure away from irritated tissues.
It is especially helpful for:

The tape typically stays in place for up to 7–10 days, depending on activity level and skin type.

What to Expect During Treatment

At our clinics, we use 1-inch zinc oxide rigid tape (such as Leukotape) to ensure firm, reliable support.

After application:

  • The foot may feel snug or slightly tight at first

  • The tape becomes more comfortable as you move

  • Many patients return for repeat taping because of the relief it provides

This treatment is quick, non-invasive, and performed during a regular appointment.

Is Foot Taping Right for You?

Foot taping is ideal for patients who:

  • Need immediate pain relief

  • Are beginning treatment for plantar fasciitis

  • Want temporary support before transitioning to orthotics

  • Are active and need short-term stabilization

For long-term correction, we may recommend custom orthotics, footwear changes, or additional therapies depending on your condition.
